Denver’s Christkindl Market Celebrates 25 Years with New Location

BREAKING: Denver’s iconic Christkindl Market is celebrating its 25th anniversary at a new location—the Tivoli Quad on the Auraria campus. This year’s market, which runs through December 23, has expanded to accommodate over 40 vendors and is attracting a growing crowd eager for festive delights.

Vendors are already reporting a surge in foot traffic. “Everybody’s always hungry for a pretzel,” said Leon Speth, a long-time vendor. The excitement is palpable as attendees flock to the market to savor traditional European treats, including Schmalzkuchen, a beloved German donut, offered by vendor Josh Bryant.

“It’s not just German food; we have a variety of offerings,” Bryant added, highlighting the diversity of the market. Alongside culinary delights, vendor Blair Hamill is showcasing art that evokes cherished memories, selling posters of renowned national parks and ski resorts.

The move from Civic Center Park to the Tivoli Quad has been met with enthusiasm. “Vendors are loving it, and we’re seeing that people are really excited to be in this new space,” said Samantha Seems, executive director of the German American Chamber of Commerce – Colorado chapter. “We have more room to spread out and create a festive atmosphere.”

Last year, the market attracted 350,000 visitors, and this year, even more are expected to join in the celebrations, making it a prime destination for both locals and tourists. “You meet people from around the world, a lot of European visitors,” Speth noted, emphasizing the market’s international appeal.

The sense of community among vendors is strong. “We’re like a family around here. Many of us have known each other for over 10 years,” Bryant shared. The camaraderie is evident as vendors welcome returning patrons and new faces alike, creating a vibrant holiday spirit that resonates throughout the market.

As the event unfolds, attendees can look forward to an array of festive activities and culinary experiences that promise to enrich the holiday season.
