Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) announced a temporary suspension of train services in the Central Business District (CBD) of downtown Dallas on December 10, 2023. The service interruption will begin at 9:30 PM and is expected to last until 4 AM on December 11, 2023. This closure is part of scheduled safety maintenance and testing that necessitates the shutdown of specific sections of the train system.
During this period, train operations will be adjusted across the various lines. The Red Line will maintain service between Parker Road and SMU/Mockingbird and between EBJ Union and Westmoreland stations. Meanwhile, Blue Line trains will operate between Downtown Rowlett and SMU/Mockingbird, as well as between EBJ Union and UNT Dallas stations. The Green Line will continue to run between Baylor and Buckner, and between Victory and North Carrollton/Frankford stations. Finally, Orange Line trains will service the route between Victory and DFW Airport stations.
Passengers needing access to Parker Road will have to transfer to a Red Line train at SMU/Mockingbird. Importantly, Silver Line trains will not be affected by this temporary service change.
To assist riders during the interruption, DART will provide shuttle bus services every 20 minutes. Green Line passengers can catch shuttle buses at Victory or Baylor Station, with stops at Victory, West End, Pearl/Arts District, Deep Ellum, and Baylor stations. For those traveling on the Red, Blue, and Orange Lines, shuttle buses will be available at EBJ Union or SMU/Mockingbird Station, servicing stops including EBJ Union, West End, Akard, St. Paul, Pearl/Arts District, CityPlace/Uptown, and SMU/Mockingbird stations.
DART advises riders to plan their trips accordingly, as they may need to transfer to shuttle buses to complete their journeys. Commuters should expect that some trips may take longer than usual due to this planned maintenance. To ensure passenger safety and provide assistance, DART staff, volunteers, and police officers will be present at stations throughout the service interruption.
