BREAKING: Cedar Park High School’s volleyball star, Joy Udoye, has just been named the 2025 Central Texas Player of the Year, as confirmed in new reports today. Despite still being a high school athlete, her performance this fall has been nothing short of extraordinary, leading the Timberwolves to a 39-12 overall record and a state title.
Udoye’s impressive stats this season include 581 kills, 364 digs, 34 aces, and 30 blocks. Her remarkable play has solidified her position among the elite, topping the American-Statesman’s 2025 All-Central Texas Volleyball Team, which features 54 players from 24 schools.
This recognition comes as the cherry on top of a stellar volleyball career for Udoye, who has already committed to play at Stanford. Known for her consistency and competitive spirit, she excelled as a six-rotation player, showcasing skills beyond just her powerful hitting. “I was more consistent this season,” Udoye stated, reflecting on her performance. “I just feel so accomplished after a kill.”
Cedar Park volleyball coach Lori McLaughlin praised Udoye, saying, “This was the best version of Joy that I witnessed. She peaked at the right time as a senior.” The team’s journey to the state title was fueled by the disappointment of finishing runner-up last year, a lesson that Udoye and her teammates carried throughout their training. “We started off the season with that being our goal,” she added.
Udoye’s journey to this achievement started when she was recognized as a standout athlete at a camp, impressing McLaughlin even as an eighth-grader. Now, as she prepares for the next level, she reflects on her experiences with a sense of disbelief. “Sometimes it still feels like a dream,” she said. “It was an amazing experience to win it with such a close team.”
As the volleyball community celebrates this significant milestone for Joy Udoye, fans and supporters are left eager to see how she will continue to shine in her athletic career. Stay tuned for more updates on her journey as she transitions to college volleyball and beyond.
