Garbage and Recycling Pickup in Fargo Delayed Due to High Winds

URGENT UPDATE: Due to dangerously high winds, garbage and recycling pickup in Fargo has been delayed, originally scheduled for Thursday, December 18. Residents are advised that collections will now take place on Friday, pending weather conditions.

High winds have caused significant disruptions, pushing many bins onto sidewalks and streets. At approximately 8 a.m., eight garbage trucks and three recycling trucks began their routes but were forced to halt operations around 12:30 p.m. due to unsafe conditions.

Jen Pickett, recycling supervisor for the city, expressed the frustrations faced by crews. “It’s time-consuming and frustrating, as eight out of ten cans on the street are probably tipped over. That means our team has to jump out to stand them up, empty them, and then move on,” Pickett stated.

Residents whose trash and recycling were not collected on Thursday should ensure their bins are out by 8 a.m. Friday. The city is working diligently to resume normal operations as quickly as possible, but the situation remains weather-dependent.

This immediate delay affects countless households across Fargo, highlighting the impact of severe weather on essential city services. Share this urgent news with your neighbors to keep everyone informed! Stay tuned for updates as the weather develops.
