Urgent Update: Suspect Still At Large One Month After Mall Shooting

UPDATE: A month after a shooting at the Partridge Creek Mall during a tree lighting event, authorities are still searching for the suspect. The incident, which occurred on November 23 near the MJR Theater, left a 17-year-old boy hospitalized, creating chaos and fear among holiday shoppers.

The shooting took place during what was meant to be a joyous community gathering, leaving families traumatized. A family friend revealed that the victim is on the road to recovery but faces significant challenges ahead.

Virginia Selvaggio, who witnessed the horrifying scene with her grandchildren, described it as a stampede, stating, “Everybody started running and we’ve got the kids and we just ran to our cars.”

Concern is mounting in Clinton Township and surrounding areas as residents express frustration over the lack of updates from law enforcement. Shopper Bob Jannette lamented, “A couple articles in the paper, the online paper and that was it. Never heard anything else, no follow up that I know of.”

According to Clinton Township Supervisor Paul Gieleghem, the investigation remains active with local police collaborating with multiple law enforcement agencies to apprehend the suspect. “Our police department here in the township is working with law enforcement agencies all over the place to try to bring this suspect to justice,” Gieleghem confirmed.

The shooting reportedly involved two minors who engaged in an altercation. Gieleghem emphasized, “It’s one of those things where isolated with them, this happened in public, but it’s not an event targeted toward the public.”

In response to the incident, security measures at Partridge Creek have been intensified, with additional police patrols deployed to ensure shopper safety. Business owner Chris Reynolds, whose shop is located near the scene, stated, “As far as I’m concerned, we’re still doing business as usual, but you always still gotta be careful of what if, when and where.”

Local police are urging anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Clinton Township Police Department. As the community grapples with the aftermath, the search for the suspect continues, underscoring the urgent need for public safety and justice.
