After attempting to assist Chase, who has been experiencing homelessness, Lee reported that Chase had caused significant damage to the motel room he provided.
On December 25, 2023, Lee took to social media to express his dismay after receiving a call from the motel management shortly after Chase checked in. The management informed him that the door to the room was left wide open, the refrigerator had been overturned, and the microwave was found in the bathtub. This distressing account highlights the ongoing struggles faced by individuals battling homelessness and the complexities involved in providing assistance.
In a bid to help, Lee drove approximately 50 miles from Los Angeles to Riverside, California, to secure a room for Chase, especially in light of an impending rainstorm in the area. Despite his good intentions, Lee acknowledged that he had received warnings from Chase’s family about past negative experiences with hotel stays. Reflecting on this, he admitted he had underestimated the challenges associated with helping Chase in this manner.
Lee’s experience has led him to contemplate alternative ways to support Chase, as he criticized the state of California’s social support systems. He expressed frustration over their inadequacies, which make it exceedingly difficult for individuals in need to receive the assistance they require. “The system is broken,” he emphasized, calling attention to the broader issue of homelessness in the state.
In addition to Lee’s efforts, actor Shaun Weiss, known for his role in the film The Mighty Ducks, has also extended help to Chase by securing a room for him at a rehabilitation facility in San Clemente, California. However, as of now, Chase has reportedly declined this offer, leaving Lee concerned about his friend’s future and well-being.
