Salvatore Maimone, 88, Passes Away; Memorial Service Set for Dec. 29

URGENT UPDATE: Salvatore Maimone, aged 88, has passed away peacefully at Capstone Nursing Home on December 23, 2025. Born on March 26, 1937, in Meri, Messina, Sicily, his legacy continues to impact many lives.

Maimone’s life journey took a significant turn in 1971 when he immigrated to the United States with his wife, Antonina, whom he married in 1957. The couple settled in Schenectady, New York, where Salvatore became a respected mason with Local 190 in Albany. He was also a proud member of the Sons of Italy on Hamburg Street, contributing to the community he cherished.

Sadly, Maimone was predeceased by his beloved wife in 2006. He leaves behind a family that includes his children, Giuseppe and Orazio Maimone, along with grandchildren Nicolina, Angelo, Kamden, Ava, Sal, Anthony, and Roberto. His sister Anna remains in Italy, and he is also remembered by great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

A calling hour is scheduled for Monday, December 29, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, located at 1605 Helderberg Ave, Rotterdam. Following this, a funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., with interment to follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna.
