In a decisive performance, Absegami High School defeated St. Dominic High School 33-13 during the Dave Lewis Memorial Showcase held at the Boardwalk Classic in Wildwood, New Jersey, on March 15, 2024. The victory showcased Absegami’s strong defense and effective scoring, led by standout player Meghan Johansen, who recorded a game-high 16 points.
Johansen’s scoring included two successful three-pointers and a commendable free throw performance, going 6-for-10 from the line. Her efforts were complemented by Victoria Witmer, who contributed nine points, also scoring two three-pointers. Absegami entered halftime with a narrow lead of 14-9, but significantly increased their advantage in the second half, outscoring St. Dominic 19-4.
St. Dominic’s offense struggled throughout the game, with Julia Hester leading her team with five points and four rebounds. Stella DeFilippis added four points to the total. Despite a solid defensive effort that included 15 steals and 15 defensive rebounds, St. Dominic could not close the scoring gap.
