Creative Cypher has ushered in a new era by appointing Cindy Beasley as its first female president. This significant leadership change follows the company’s recent accolades, including two Emmy nominations and three Telly Awards. Founded by visionary producer Troy Pryor, Creative Cypher is recognized for its commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices in film and television.
Beasley’s leadership marks a strategic expansion of the Cypher brand. “Cindy will be an exceptional leader, and I’m beyond grateful for this entire team,” Pryor stated. He emphasized the importance of recognizing every contributor’s efforts, reflecting the collaborative spirit that characterizes Creative Cypher.
Cindy Beasley’s Vision for Creative Cypher
A lifelong creative from Chicago, Beasley brings over a decade of experience in TV and media production. She has produced shows for notable talents, including former FOX Chicago News anchor Robin Robinson and Emmy Award-winning journalist Samantha Chatman. “I’ve been blessed to be a collaborative partner in something that the city and culture needs,” Beasley remarked.
She envisions Creative Cypher as a platform for cultivating the next generation of creatives and entertainment thought leaders. “With structure and soul, I look forward to leading the way. We will continue to set the bar higher as Chicago’s top entertainment ecosystem,” she added.
In her new role, Beasley will oversee projects across all departments at Creative Cypher. She also heads a newly established leadership team, which includes Kyle Marshall as Chief Operations Officer and Starr Gadson as Chief Marketing Officer. Both Marshall and Gadson have been long-time contributors to the organization.
Expanding Influence and Initiatives
As part of its growth strategy, Creative Cypher will continue to develop its flagship initiative, XL Fest. This festival has gained significant attention and collaboration with TateMen Entertainment, solidifying its presence in Chicago. The event has attracted prominent figures in entertainment, including Robert Townsend, Larenz Tate, Vivica Fox, and Malcolm D. Lee, along with Louis Carr, recently appointed president of BET.
The organization aims to extend its reach within the global festival circuit, partnering with entertainment heavyweights such as Lil’ Rel Howery in Chicago and events like XPO in London.
Pryor, who remains the Chairman of Creative Cypher, continues to be actively involved in various boards, including Soho House and SAG-AFTRA Chicago. He has built the Cypher enterprise from the ground up and is now expanding his executive producer catalog while returning to his on-camera roots. He is currently co-hosting a radio show with Gadson titled “Connect the Starrs,” airing on Rejoice 102.3 FM.
“The goal has always been elevation and avoiding founder syndrome,” Pryor explained. “I launched Creative Cypher because I saw a lack of growth from other organizations, so it’s important that we practice what we preach. This is a natural progression in the ecosystem.”
With Beasley at the helm, Creative Cypher is poised to enhance its impact in the entertainment industry, fostering creativity and collaboration in Chicago and beyond.
