Beloved Yorktown Mother Idell Lude Passes Away at 86

BREAKING: The Yorktown community mourns the loss of Idell (Dubose) Lude, who passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 86. This beloved mother and grandmother was known for her unwavering dedication to family and her vibrant spirit.

Idell’s death has left a profound impact on those who knew her. Born on March 31, 1939, to George and Lucy (Howard) Dubose, Idell graduated from Yorktown High School and later attended Victoria Beauty College. She began her career at the Modern Beauty Shop in Yorktown, showcasing her passion for beauty and community service.

In a heartfelt ceremony at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Texas, Idell married David William Lude on November 11, 1961. The couple built a loving home in Yorktown, welcoming two sons, Jeffery David Lude and Garrett Wayne Lude. As a devoted stay-at-home mom, Idell dedicated herself to nurturing her family, especially caring for her son Jeffery, who had special needs, for over 50 years.

Idell was not only a nurturing figure but also a talented individual, known for her sewing, cooking, and gardening skills. Her beautiful yard became a symbol of her love for nature and her commitment to home life. She never sought recognition for her efforts, always prioritizing her family’s well-being.

Idell is preceded in death by her husband, David; her son, Jeffery; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Garrett Wayne Lude, his wife Dianne (Kleinkauf) Lude, and granddaughter Sarah Louise Lude, who resides in California. The loss of such a devoted mother and grandmother resonates deeply within the community, reminding many of the importance of family bonds.

Visitation will take place on January 6, 2026, from 9 AM to 10 AM at Massey Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM. Interment will follow at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Cemetery, where friends and family can pay their final respects. Pallbearers include Steven Schulze, Glenn Karnei, Paul Wauson, Allen Kolodziejczyk, Gerald Allison, and Gary Cowey, with honorary pallbearers being her extended family.
