Lorraine F. Lease, 94, Passes Away in Bethlehem, PA

BREAKING NEWS: Lorraine F. Lease, a beloved educator and community volunteer, has passed away at the age of 94 in St. Luke’s Hospice, Bethlehem, PA, on January 9, 2026. Her departure marks the end of a remarkable life dedicated to teaching and service.

Born on December 11, 1931, in Upper Darby, PA, Lorraine dedicated over 30 years to elementary education, with 20 years spent in the Bethlehem Area School District. Following her retirement, she embraced a vibrant life filled with travel, sports, and community involvement. Lorraine was the widow of George M. Lease, who passed away on February 22, 2003.

Lorraine’s impact extended beyond the classroom. She volunteered for numerous local organizations, including Meals on Wheels and the New Bethany soup kitchen, enhancing the lives of many in her community. A passionate reader and singer, she also enjoyed engaging with friends and family, often participating in activities at the Moravian Village chorus.

She is survived by her sisters, Althea Lazun of Bethlehem and Joyce Hess of North Carolina, along with stepdaughters Joan Johnson and Susan Baier, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Roberta Florey.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for March 20, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Central Moravian Chapel in Bethlehem. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
