Man and Two Juveniles Arrested for Stolen Vehicles in Newtown

UPDATE: A man and two juveniles have been arrested in connection with the recovery of two stolen vehicles in Newtown, Connecticut, early Thursday morning. Police initiated their investigation after receiving reports of an abandoned vehicle at the intersection of Aunt Park Lane and Hundred Acres Road at 1:15 a.m.

Just minutes later, at 1:36 a.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Butterfield Road. The crashed vehicle was registered to a resident of Aunt Park Lane, prompting further investigation. Lt. Scott P. Smith of the Newtown Police Department confirmed that both vehicles involved were reported stolen.

Witnesses alerted authorities to a third vehicle seen driving slowly in the vicinity of Butterfield Road. A patrol officer subsequently spotted the suspicious vehicle and conducted a stop. Inside were four individuals, including 19-year-old Rashaun Woods from Stratford, seated in the front, along with two juveniles aged 13 and 15 in the rear.

Woods, along with the juveniles, was arrested following the investigation. He faces multiple charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, evading responsibility, operating without a license, and making an improper turn. Currently, Woods is being held on a $25,000 bond and is expected to be arraigned in Danbury Superior Court later today.

One of the juveniles has been charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools, while the other faces charges of larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and weapons in a motor vehicle. Both juveniles were transported to the hospital for minor injuries resulting from the crash but have since been released to their parents.
