Four-Star Receiver Khalil Taylor to Visit Colorado Buffaloes in May

A highly regarded wide receiver from the class of 2027, Khalil Taylor, has confirmed an official recruiting visit to the Colorado Buffaloes from May 15-17. Taylor, a four-star prospect from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, announced his plans on Wednesday after receiving an offer from Colorado last December. He is eager to evaluate the program led by head coach Deion Sanders.

Ranked as the No. 14 wide receiver in his class and the No. 4 overall prospect in Pennsylvania according to the 247Sports composite rankings, Taylor stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 180 pounds. His recent success at Pine-Richland High School has drawn attention, particularly after a standout junior season in which he caught 33 passes for 571 yards and scored 16 touchdowns, alongside accumulating 770 yards on kickoff and punt returns.

Taylor plans to visit several other schools this summer, including Penn State from June 5-7, Georgia from May 29-31, and Syracuse from June 19-21. This breadth of visits underscores the competitive nature of the recruiting process, as Colorado will need to make a strong impression to secure his commitment.

Earlier in his recruitment, Taylor was committed to Penn State for around seven months but decommitted following the firing of former coach James Franklin in October. With new head coach Matt Campbell now at the helm, he has re-offered Taylor, who noted, “They’re making a run again… they’re staying in touch with me, visiting me at school. They’re on me, like how coach Franklin’s group was. I like them a lot, too. Penn State’s just standing out.”

In addition to securing Taylor’s visit, news emerged on Wednesday that another four-star recruit, defensive lineman Khing Thibodeaux, will visit Colorado from June 5-7. As the Buffaloes aim to strengthen their 2027 recruiting class, they currently face challenges, having recently lost a commitment from three-star cornerback Dolph McDonald.

Coach Sanders has expressed a renewed commitment to actively participate in the recruiting process, stating, “First and foremost, let me let you understand this: I’m hands-on with everything right now… Every kid, I’ve watched on tape and have hand-picked him, hand-selected him to come in myself.” This proactive approach is essential as Colorado looks to build a competitive team for the upcoming seasons.

Currently, Colorado’s 2026 recruiting class includes 15 signees, featuring three wide receivers, Jacob Swain and brothers Alex and Christian Ward. As the Buffaloes continue to develop their program, the coming months will be critical in attracting top talent like Taylor and Thibodeaux.
