Celebrate Finnish Heritage at St. Urho’s Dinner Dance on March 14

On March 14, 2024, the vibrant traditions of Finnish-American culture will take center stage in Fitchburg. The Finnish Center at Saima Park will host the annual St. Urho’s Dinner Dance, a lively event that runs from 16:00 to 20:00. This celebration pays tribute to St. Urho, a legendary figure believed to have saved Finland’s grape crops by driving away grasshoppers.

A Festive Evening of Food and Music

Attendees can anticipate a hearty dinner featuring a range of dishes, including appetizers, Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, butternut squash, pickled beets, cranberry sauce, and freshly baked bread. Dessert and coffee or tea will round out the meal. The event is designed to be a convivial experience, and guests are welcome to bring their own beverages (BYOB).

The evening’s entertainment will be provided by the Central Mass Accordion Club, ensuring a lively atmosphere. Dance enthusiasts can look forward to special performances led by Leila Luopa, the director of the Revontulet Folk Dancers. In addition to music and dancing, participants will have the opportunity to engage in creative activities, such as decorating hats and participating in games with prizes.
