Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Secure Third Win: 5-2 Over Hartford

UPDATE: The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have achieved their third consecutive victory of the season, dominating the Hartford Wolfpack with a decisive 5-2 win on October 20, 2023. This victory keeps the Penguins undefeated at 3-0, showcasing their strong start to the season.
The Penguins quickly seized control of the game, jumping out to a two-goal lead within the first period. Atley Calvert ignited the offense with two goals, including a pivotal score that solidified a 2-0 advantage after just one period. The action kicked off with Rafaei Harvey-Pinard finding the net 12 minutes into the game, assisted by Chase Pietila and Ryan Graves.
As the game progressed, Avery Hayes extended the Penguins’ lead to 3-0 with his second power-play goal of the season. However, the Wolfpack fought back, scoring twice in quick succession to narrow the gap to 3-2 with just 14 minutes remaining.
Calvert struck again, netting his second goal of the night to push the lead back to 4-2 with under nine minutes left. Tristan Broz capped off the scoring with a final goal in the last three minutes, securing the Penguins’ victory. In goal, Sergei Murashov was stellar, stopping 28 of 30 shots faced.
The Penguins are now gearing up for a crucial matchup against the Bridgeport Islanders this Saturday, October 21, scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start in Connecticut. Following this, they will return to Mohegan Arena on Wednesday to face their rivals, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, before heading to Charlotte for back-to-back games next weekend.
