The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is set to light up downtown Nashville on the morning of June 13, 2026, in a powerful prelude to the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games. This historic relay, sponsored by Jersey Mike’s Subs, is carrying the symbolic Flame of Hope from Chicago across the nation to Minnesota, where thousands of athletes will compete.
At exactly 10:30 a.m. ET on June 13, the Flame of Hope will commence its journey through Nashville’s streets, including a celebrated passage along Broadway. The torch run squad, featuring a select group of local law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes from Nashville, will rally the community to celebrate inclusion, courage, and leadership. By 11:30 a.m., the run culminates in an official ceremony at Bridgestone Arena Plaza, inviting public cheers and support.
A Nationwide Journey Sparking Unity
This torch run marks a vital phase in the LETR Final Leg, which spans from May 29 to June 20, 2026. Beginning in Chicago—the birthplace of Special Olympics—the Flame of Hope will traverse an epic 10,000-mile route through 13 states, crossing all U.S. time zones before converging in Minnesota for the Games’ grand opening.
An elite team of 73 runners—including 53 law enforcement officers and 6 Special Olympics athletes—will share this historic burden, epitomizing the strong bond between law enforcement and athletes. The relay strengthens the message that everyone deserves a place in their communities where they are seen, valued, and empowered.
Special Olympics USA Games Await in Minnesota
The relay’s finish line will be the Huntington Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus, where on June 20 the Flame of Hope will ignite the cauldron officially opening the Games. The event will showcase 3,000 competitors participating in 16 Olympic-style sports, including 118 athletes representing Tennessee.
“It’s an honor for Nashville to be part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run’s Final Leg,” said Adam Germek, President and CEO of Special Olympics Tennessee. “This Torch Run sends a clear message that inclusion belongs in every community. We encourage everyone to come out, cheer, and celebrate the athletes who inspire us all.”
