Chester Man Gets 90 Days Probation for Workplace Threats

UPDATE: A Chester man, Davar Brown, was sentenced to 90 days of probation on Monday after pleading guilty to harassment for threatening to “spray up” his workplace. This urgent ruling comes following an incident on August 27, 2023, at ServPro in Glen Mills, where tensions escalated dramatically.
In a plea deal orchestrated by Assistant District Attorney Cierra Eckenrode, the charge was downgraded from a third-degree misdemeanor to a summary offense. The more severe charge of making terroristic threats was dismissed, allowing Brown to avoid harsher penalties.
According to state troopers, Brown, age 29, entered the ServPro office and expressed discontent with his shift schedule. Following a heated argument with coworkers, he was escorted out of the building. However, he allegedly made alarming threats, stating he would “spray up” the business and claimed to be “the only one packing” at the workplace.
The situation raises concerns, especially given the recent violent incident in Chester, where a disgruntled employee fatally shot two people and injured three others. Brown’s threats to shoot two coworkers have heightened fears about workplace safety in the area.
Court records reveal Brown has a troubling history, previously charged with making terroristic threats, aggravated assault, and simple assault. His permit to carry a concealed weapon was revoked, indicating previous serious concerns about his behavior. Following his arrest on August 31, Brown was released on $5,000 bail on September 3.
Before Judge Margaret Amoroso, neither Brown nor his attorney, Clinton Johnson, made any public comments regarding the plea. Additionally, Brown has been ordered to avoid contact with a specific individual and is prohibited from returning to the ServPro premises. He is also required to attend anger management classes as part of his sentencing.
This incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding workplace violence, making it a critical issue for employers and employees alike. As workplaces strive to ensure safety, the implications of such threats cannot be ignored.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as authorities continue to address workplace safety and violence prevention strategies.
