Tony Khan Confirms Samoa Joe’s AEW Future Ahead of WrestleDream

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has addressed recent speculation surrounding the future of professional wrestler Samoa Joe. In an interview with Conrad Thompson, Khan clarified that Joe will not be retiring at the end of his current contract with AEW, emphasizing that he still has several years left with the company. This statement comes just before Joe’s highly anticipated match at AEW WrestleDream, where he will challenge for the AEW World Title.
During the interview, Khan acknowledged the idea of a potential retirement tour for Joe, allowing fans to celebrate his storied career. He stated, “It’s a great point, and I think that when the time’s there, we don’t want to think about that yet because I think Samoa Joe still has years left with AEW, which is great.” Khan expressed his belief that Joe remains one of the top stars in wrestling today and stressed the importance of honoring Joe’s legacy when the time comes for him to retire.
As part of the WrestleDream event, Samoa Joe will face Hangman Page for the AEW World Title. This match holds special significance for Joe, as it takes place in the same venue where he lost the title to Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty in April 2023. Khan shared his excitement about Joe competing for the championship in St. Louis, stating, “Having a chance to get it back from somebody that he’s worked so closely with, somebody who’s such a great champion in and of himself, the face of AEW, the world champion, Hangman Page.”
AEW WrestleDream is set to be broadcast live on pay-per-view from the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri. The event promises to deliver an exhilarating night of professional wrestling, with Samoa Joe seeking to reclaim his title in front of a live audience.
With Khan’s assurance of Joe’s continued presence in AEW, fans can look forward to many more matches featuring one of the industry’s most accomplished stars. As WrestleDream unfolds, the focus will undoubtedly be on Samoa Joe and his quest for championship glory in a match that could redefine his legacy within the organization.
