Thousands Rally in Boulder County Protests Against Trump Policies

UPDATE: Thousands of protesters flooded Boulder County this weekend during the “No Kings” rallies, demonstrating against the Trump administration’s policies. Gatherings occurred in Longmont, Boulder, Lafayette, Louisville, and Lyons, with significant attendance reported at Roosevelt Park in Longmont on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Mobilization efforts, coordinated through mobilize.us/nokings, attracted over 1,200 online registrants for the Boulder rally alone. As the event unfolded, actual turnout estimates swelled into the thousands. Rally coordinator Lyn Lowry expressed optimism about the participation, stating, “The energy here is incredible.”

Protesters voiced their opposition to various issues, including immigration policies and tariffs. Longmont participant Susan Conversano noted the creativity and passion displayed on homemade signs, saying, “I am overwhelmed by the immense creativity… it actually brings me to tears.”

U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, representing Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, joined the Longmont crowd, praising the turnout as “incredible.” He remarked, “It’s a privilege to be able to walk with the folks here,” emphasizing the importance of community engagement.

In Louisville, participants wore yellow as a symbol of peaceful resistance, gathering at McCaslin Boulevard and Dillon Road. Meanwhile, Lyons protesters congregated in the Main Street area, continuing a year-long trend of anti-Trump protests across local communities.

The Boulder rally took place mere blocks from the bustling Pearl Street Mall, where protesters lined Broadway, showcasing their handmade signs. Will Eiserman, a Boulder resident, carried a striking sign that read, “We are innocent targets,” highlighting the dangers felt by many in the community.

With over 2,000 participants anticipated across all locations, the demonstrations underscored a significant moment of dissent amid a government shutdown. Christine Cowles, a volunteer with Forever Indivisible Boulder, noted that the chapter has over 200 members and played a crucial role in rally organization.

Eiserman expressed his motivations for attending, criticizing ICE raids and cuts to public health programs. “To see how he’s dismantled public health protections is shocking,” he said, reinforcing the urgency of ongoing protests.
