UTEP Faces TCU in High-Stakes Rifle Match This Sunday

UPDATE: An exciting rifle showdown is set for this Sunday, as the No. 15 UTEP rifle team prepares to clash with the No. 3 TCU team at the UTEP Rifle Range in El Paso. Fans can enter for free, with doors opening at 6:45 a.m. MT and the first relay kicking off at 7:45 a.m. MT. A second relay is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. MT, promising an action-packed day.
This match comes on the heels of UTEP’s recent record-breaking performance at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where they achieved a staggering score of 2,372 in air rifle. Despite a narrow defeat to No. 7 Air Force, ending with a score of 4690-4689, UTEP’s exceptional scores have ignited excitement among fans and athletes alike.
Currently, UTEP has played just two matches this season, averaging an impressive 2,311.5 in smallbore and 2,367 in air rifle, bringing their total aggregate score to 4,678.5. Star shooter Carlee Valenta has been pivotal to the team’s success, showcasing averages of 580.5 in smallbore and 598.5 in air rifle. Valenta’s performance has propelled her into the national spotlight, ranked 4th in air rifle and 33rd overall in aggregate.
As the countdown to this thrilling match continues, all eyes will be on UTEP as they aim to topple a higher-ranked opponent in their quest for victory. Fans and supporters are encouraged to come early and cheer on the Miners in what promises to be a memorable day at the range.
