Woodside Dad Launches Kung Fu Tea in Redwood City, Opening Soon!
BREAKING: A new Kung Fu Tea location is set to open in Redwood City, providing a much-needed boba option for local families. Drew Shih, a devoted Woodside father of four daughters, is spearheading this venture after countless drives to San Mateo and beyond in search of their favorite bubble tea.
Frustrated by the lack of nearby options, Shih and his family, who have lived in Korea and Taiwan, began exploring various boba franchises. Their goal? To bring authentic Taiwanese boba to the local community while appealing to mainstream tastes. “It became sort of an obsession,” Shih said, reflecting on their journey to find the perfect fit.
Kung Fu Tea stands out with an impressive menu featuring over 70 drinks, including slushies, boba drinks, espresso beverages, and fruity teas. Among the unique offerings are milk teas in honey oolong and winter melon flavors, as well as refreshing fruit drinks like rose hip lemonade and lychee punch. The family’s taste-testing ensured that the menu caters to all preferences.
The soft opening for Kung Fu Tea is scheduled for October 27, with an official grand opening taking place on November 15. This new addition is located at 593 D Woodside Road in Redwood City, making it a convenient stop for boba lovers in the area.
Shih’s daughters will not only enjoy the drinks but also contribute to the family business, creating a sense of community and shared purpose. “My older daughters will work there,” he confirmed, emphasizing the family-oriented nature of the venture.
Kung Fu Tea, a national chain with nearly 400 locations, only has one other nearby branch in San Jose, following the closure of a Palo Alto outlet. This new shop is expected to attract not just local residents but also boba enthusiasts from surrounding areas.
Stay updated on the grand opening and special promotions by following Kung Fu Tea on Instagram at @kft_woodsideroad. This is an exciting development for boba fans in Redwood City, and the community eagerly anticipates the arrival of this new favorite spot.
Don’t miss out on the chance to indulge in a variety of unique boba drinks right in your neighborhood!
