Great Bend Runners Gear Up for 1A Cross Country Regional

Great Bend is set to showcase its athletic talent as local runners prepare to compete in the 1A cross country regional on September 30, 2023, at Lake Barton. This event will feature a strong contingent from the area, including notable athletes from Great Bend, Dodge City, Larned, and Ellinwood.

Local Athletes Ready to Compete

Three standout runners from Great Bend—Decorah Schroeter, Bella Long, and Sydney Stein—are eager to make their mark in the regional competition. They will be joined by fellow Great Bend athletes: Samantha Negaard, MaKenzie Gwin, and Alyssa Prendergast for the girls’ team, and Brogan Lashley, Isaac Aldana, Tavon Stroup, Noah Kaiser, Parker Coleman, Sullivan Luttrell, and Alexis Garcia for the boys’ team.

Dodge City will also have a strong presence with runners Tianna Lutters, Tristin Compton, and Ava Martin representing the girls’ team. Larned will send a mix of talent, including Addison Snodgrass and Emma Corman for the girls, while the boys’ team features Lane Elam, Caleb McDonald, Jayden Ramirez, Kayden LaPointe, Ryan Hill, Mason Cooper, Isaac Redgate, and Hunter Hewson.

Additional Competitors Across the Region

The competition will not be limited to local teams. The Ellinwood girls’ team, including Eleanor Joiner, Jenna Borror, and Ali Gonzalez, is expected to put forth a strong performance. The boys’ team from Ellinwood features runners such as Ryan Pohlman and Shae Hoskins.

Macksville will also have its share of competitors, with the girls’ team represented by Kennedy Butler, Ashley Barron, and Alycia Fulls. The boys’ team includes Aiden Gandara, and Central Plains will field both girls’ and boys’ teams featuring athletes like Taylin Davis and Cale Thompson.

As these athletes prepare for the regional meet, local communities are expected to rally around them, providing support and encouragement. This event not only highlights individual talent but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among schools and communities in the region.
