Colorado Ski Resorts Receive Up to 8 Inches of Snow Overnight

UPDATE: A significant overnight snowstorm has blanketed Colorado’s ski resorts, with Beaver Creek Resort emerging as the biggest winner with 8 inches of fresh snow reported early Friday morning, October 24, 2023. This early-season snowfall is stirring excitement among skiing enthusiasts across the region.

The storm system swept through Colorado’s mountains, impacting numerous resorts along the I-70 corridor. Just a short distance away, Vail Mountain recorded 6 inches of new snow, creating ideal conditions for winter sports. Resorts in Summit County experienced lighter accumulations, with Copper Mountain receiving around 2 inches, while Loveland reported 3 inches.

As the ski community gears up for the season, Arapahoe Basin noted on social media that while there is no official opening day yet, skiers and snowboarders should prepare their gear. Both Keystone and Loveland echoed this sentiment, announcing they will open as soon as conditions permit.

The snowstorm also touched Aspen and Snowmass, which saw approximately 2 inches of snowfall. Further north, however, Winter Park and Steamboat resorts experienced minimal accumulation, barely registering any significant snowfall on their summits.

As ski resorts prepare for the upcoming season, the latest snow totals are creating a buzz among winter sports fans. With conditions rapidly improving, many are eager to hit the slopes as soon as they open.
