Palos Verdes Football Triumphs 31-12 Over Inglewood in Bay League Clash
UPDATE: The Palos Verdes Sea Kings secured a crucial 31-12 victory over the Inglewood Sentinels in a tense Bay League football game on October 24, 2025. This win marks a significant step for Palos Verdes as they strive for a playoff spot, particularly as they prepare to face Mira Costa next week.
Palos Verdes quarterback Ryan Rakowski, celebrating his 18th birthday, returned from a suspension and delivered an impressive performance, throwing two touchdown passes and completing 7 of 11 passes for 131 yards. The Sea Kings dominated the first half, building a formidable lead that left Inglewood struggling to keep pace.
Defensive back Nick Yakubik turned in a standout performance with two interceptions in the second half, showcasing Palos Verdes’ defensive prowess. “I think the guys just came out and played fundamentally hard and sound,” said Sea Kings coach Guy Gardner. His team executed their game plan effectively, which proved vital against Inglewood’s potent offense.
The game started with a bang for Palos Verdes, as Rakowski connected with receiver Shou Murakami-Moses for a 43-yard touchdown on his first pass attempt. This early score set the tone, and running back Dominik Hernando added a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 14-0 by halftime.
Inglewood, missing key player Semaj Welch due to injury, struggled to find rhythm early in the game. Quarterback Lincoln Jahn faced significant pressure, completing just 5 of 13 passes in the first half. “When we don’t execute, this is the result,” said Inglewood coach Mil’Von James. Despite Jahn’s resilience and a later touchdown connection to Donovin Randolph, the Sentinels could not overcome Palos Verdes’ defensive dominance.
As the second half unfolded, Palos Verdes maintained their grip on the game. After Jahn’s touchdown pass closed the gap to 14-6, Rakowski quickly responded with a 23-yard touchdown pass to Camren Hughes, extending the Sea Kings’ lead to 21-6.
Yakubik’s interceptions proved pivotal, stopping Inglewood’s momentum and sealing the game for Palos Verdes. In the fourth quarter, running back Christian Reis added a final blow with a 41-yard touchdown, marking the Sea Kings’ decisive victory.
Palos Verdes now stands at 6-3 overall, 3-1 in the Bay League as they gear up for their last regular-season game against Mira Costa on Halloween night. Inglewood drops to 4-5 overall, 2-2 in the league and will look to regroup against Culver City next week.
As playoff implications loom, this victory not only boosts Palos Verdes’ standings but also reinvigorates their season after a challenging start. Fans can expect a thrilling conclusion to the regular season as teams vie for a coveted spot in the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
