“Women Embrace Healing at ‘Undone’ Retreat in Fargo This November”
The upcoming “Undone: Freedom for the Feminine Heart” retreat in Fargo aims to provide women with an opportunity to explore spiritual healing and personal growth. Scheduled for **November 20-22, 2023**, the event will take place at **Sts. Anne & Joachim Catholic Church**, featuring a series of discussions and activities designed to help participants reclaim their dignity and identity in Christ.
Carrie Daunt, who is one of the retreat’s leaders, draws inspiration from the writings of **St. Irenaeus**, who noted that “the knot of Eve’s disobedience was loosed by the obedience of Mary.” Daunt believes that this metaphorical knot continues to affect women today, hindering their ability to fully experience life as intended by God. “When Mary gave her fiat, that was loosed,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of understanding Mary’s role in the Christian faith and how it can impact women’s lives today.
The retreat is tailored to help women confront and heal their emotional wounds, allowing them to live more authentically. “We need to understand who Eve was meant to be and what happened in The Fall,” Daunt stated. Through this understanding, participants will learn how to navigate their own identities as women.
The “Undone” retreat will feature a variety of activities, including prayer, journaling, and small-group discussions. These interactions aim to create a safe space for women to share their experiences and find healing in community. “We’ve built a lot of walls and facades,” Daunt remarked, noting that the retreat provides an environment for vulnerability and connection.
Jennie Korsmo, who works in formation and education for the **Fargo Diocese**, attended a previous “Undone” retreat to evaluate its suitability for Fargo. She emphasized the importance of addressing healing within the community, stating that many women carry wounds related to their identities as daughters, sisters, and mothers. “Undone helps undo those knots and hurts,” she said, highlighting the retreat’s ability to facilitate encounters with the Divine Healer.
Connie Savageau, the event coordinator for Sts. Anne & Joachim, expressed her enthusiasm for the retreat. After attending a similar event in **Arvada, Colorado**, she noted its profound impact. “It was such a beautiful and moving event,” Savageau recalled, adding that it would be beneficial for women at any stage of their faith journey, as well as for young adults. She appreciates the flexibility of the retreat, which allows for both group participation and personal reflection time.
The event’s schedule is designed to accommodate working women, with an option for online attendance. Each day will focus on a different theme, including “The Consummate Creation” and “Living Undone.” The retreat intertwines Catholic theology, particularly the teachings of **Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body**, with psychological insights, making it accessible to women from various backgrounds seeking healing.
Daunt encourages all women to consider attending, asserting that the call to join is often a nudge from the Holy Spirit. “If we don’t take a chance, we’ll never know what’s on the other side,” she said, underscoring the potential for transformative experiences at the retreat.
The total registration cost for the “Undone” retreat is **$175**, which includes snacks and meals, while online participation is available for **$119**. For more information or to register, interested individuals can visit the **Fargo Diocese website**.
This retreat promises to be a significant opportunity for women to engage in personal healing and spiritual growth, allowing them to embrace their identities in a supportive community.
