URGENT UPDATE: Dinners For Kids is set to honor community leader Sandy Insalaco Sr. at its 7th Annual “Thanks for Giving!” Fall Gathering on Wednesday, November 5, 2023, at the JCC in Kingston. Insalaco, a distinguished advocate for childhood nutrition, will receive the prestigious Distinguished Advocate for Childhood Nutrition Award in recognition of his lifelong commitment to improving the lives of children through philanthropy and community service.
This pivotal event underscores the ongoing fight against childhood hunger, as Dinners For Kids delivers over 75,000 freshly prepared meals annually to more than 240 children in the Wilkes-Barre, West Side, and Dallas areas. The organization operates on a unique all-volunteer model, ensuring that 100% of donations directly support meal preparation without overhead costs.
David Tevet, founder and executive director of Dinners For Kids, praised Insalaco’s contributions, stating, “Few individuals embody the true spirit of giving like Sandy. His quiet compassion, business leadership, and deep commitment to improving the lives of children have shaped this community for generations.”
The evening will also honor Charles “Charlie” Dancheck, who will receive the Jim Haggerty Service Award for his decades of dedication and volunteer work, including over ten years of delivering meals with Dinners For Kids. Guests can expect an inspiring evening filled with celebration, community connection, and gratitude.
Highlights of the event include a keynote address by Jennifer Sordoni, Interim CEO of the United Way of Greater Hazleton, and master of ceremonies Christopher Bohinski, Host and Producer of PA Live! on WBRE. The gathering will commence with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the awards ceremony.
Dinners For Kids, founded in 2011, has become a beacon of hope for struggling families, demonstrating the power of community support. As the event approaches, the organization urges the public to join in the fight against childhood hunger.
