Epiphone Launches Masterbilt Guitars for Gem Archer and Bonehead

Epiphone has introduced two new signature guitars, the Masterbilt Gem Archer Sheraton and the Bonehead Riviera, designed for renowned musicians Gem Archer and Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs. This launch coincides with their upcoming performances in 2025, marking a significant moment in the music scene as both artists reconnect with their iconic instruments.

Gem Archer, known for his work with the legendary band Oasis and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, expressed his connection to the Sheraton model. “The Epiphone Sheraton first came into my world when I borrowed Noel’s for Oasis tours and recording,” Archer noted. He has continued to use this guitar, which has now inspired his new signature model. He emphasized its unique sound, stating, “It’s got a ring and a clang to it, with loads of definition and clarity that I haven’t found in any other model.”

Paul Arthurs, also a pivotal figure in Oasis, reflected on his long association with the Epiphone Riviera. “I’m still playing my original 1984 guitar on the Oasis 2025 tour, and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he said. Arthurs expressed excitement about introducing the new guitar to both longtime fans and new audiences, describing its robust sound as “massive.”

Craftsmanship and Features of the New Models

The Masterbilt Gem Archer Sheraton is a semi-hollowbody guitar crafted to meet the highest standards of quality. Introduced as part of Epiphone’s 2025 lineup, it features a five-ply layered maple/poplar construction with a maple center block. This design enhances sustain and feedback resistance, making it a fitting choice for live performances. The guitar showcases a vintage gloss finish and includes a one-piece mahogany neck with a 60s C profile, topped with a rosewood fretboard.

Equipped with two USA-made Gibson Mini Humbucker pickups, the Masterbilt model provides individual volume and tone controls. It also features high-quality CTS potentiometers and Mallory capacitors, ensuring top-tier electronics. The guitar is available in both right- and left-handed versions and comes with an Epiphone hardshell case for protection on the road.

The Bonehead Riviera, designed for Arthurs, carries the weight of nostalgia and musical history. Arthurs recalls its significance from the early days of Oasis, indicating that this new version will resonate with fans who have shared that journey.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Lee Bartram, Head of Commercial and Marketing EMEA at Gibson, highlighted the importance of this year for live music. “2025 is turning out to be quite the year for live music, and we’re thrilled to play a small part in paying tribute to one of the greatest reunions of the 21st century!” he stated. Bartram reminisced about the first time he saw Archer perform with the Sheraton in 2005, recognizing the guitar’s significance in shaping the sound of Oasis.

This launch is not only a celebration of iconic instruments but also a tribute to the enduring legacy of musicians like Archer and Arthurs. As they prepare for their 2025 tour, fans can anticipate a blend of nostalgia and innovation, with these new models embodying the spirit of rock music that has captured audiences for decades.

With their latest offerings, Epiphone continues to solidify its reputation for creating instruments that not only look beautiful but also deliver exceptional sound, ensuring that both new and seasoned musicians can connect with their music in meaningful ways.
