Tammy Shealey Selected for Prestigious LEAD CTAE Program

On November 2, 2025, Tammy Shealey, a senior counselor at Thomas County Central High School, was selected as the district’s inaugural representative in the highly regarded LEAD CTAE (Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education) program, administered by the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). This selection marks a significant achievement for both Shealey and the school district, highlighting her exceptional qualifications in educational leadership.

A Select Group of Leaders

Shealey, who brings more than 32 years of experience in education, has served as the senior counselor at Thomas County Central High for the past five years. Out of 148 applicants statewide, she was one of only 20 educators chosen to participate in this intensive leadership development initiative. The program focuses on enhancing skills in areas such as leadership, team building, business engagement, legislative advocacy, communication, instruction, and economic development.

Having recently completed her first program session, Shealey is eager to apply her newfound knowledge to benefit her students. “I am honored to be selected for this program,” she stated. “I’m already implementing new ideas, especially in helping our CTAE students build soft skills for career readiness. These are essential skills that prepare them not just for the workplace, but for success in life.”

Support from the Community

The LEAD CTAE Program is a collaborative initiative backed by the Georgia Association of Career and Technical Educators (GACTE), the CTAE Resource Network (CTAERN), and the GaDOE’s CTAE Division. Participants engage in over 60 hours of professional learning, attend six program sessions, and are honored at the annual GACTE Summer Conference upon graduation.

Beth Adams, the CTAE Director at Thomas County Central High School, expressed her admiration for Shealey’s dedication. “Mrs. Shealey is passionate about helping students discover their strengths and prepare for the future,” Adams noted. “Her participation in this program will help us continue to strengthen our CTAE pathways and ensure that our students graduate ready for college, careers, and life.”

Through her continued efforts and leadership, Shealey is making a lasting impact on her students, helping them connect their education to meaningful future opportunities while proudly representing Thomas County on a statewide level.
