Discovery Shoppe Donates $15,000 to Shasta Elementary NOW

URGENT UPDATE: The Discovery Shoppe League has just announced a significant donation of $15,000 to Shasta Elementary School in Chico, California. On October 29, 2023, volunteer Shelley Tedford presented the check to 5th-grade teacher Parker Bush and students Emma Barnum and Nick Bonacich. This funding is set to support an educational trip for the students to the Shady Creek environmental camp, where they will engage in a four-day, three-night adventure designed to enhance their learning experience.

This timely contribution is part of the Discovery Shoppe League’s ongoing commitment to local charities, with plans to award over $165,381 this year to sixteen organizations. The Discovery Shoppe, located at 315 Flume Street, has been a vital part of the Chico community since its inception in 1959, operating entirely on volunteer efforts and reinvesting all proceeds back into local initiatives.

The funds will not only benefit the students of Shasta Elementary but also highlight the importance of community support in providing enriching educational opportunities. As Shelley Tedford stated during the presentation, “We are thrilled to sponsor Shasta Elementary and help make this trip possible for these remarkable students.”

With the school year in full swing, this donation comes at a crucial time for the students, who are eager to explore the great outdoors and learn about environmental stewardship. Parents and community members are encouraged to share in the excitement and support these initiatives that foster growth and learning.

As the Discovery Shoppe continues to make a positive impact, community members are reminded of the vital role local organizations play in enhancing educational experiences. Keep an eye on upcoming events and support local charities as they work tirelessly to uplift our community.
