Former City Council members Robert Rizo and Yvonne Flores-Cale are the top contenders, with Rizo claiming approximately 42 percent of the votes and Flores-Cale following closely at 32 percent, according to CBS Austin.
This runoff is poised to be highly competitive. Rizo leads the unofficial tally with 2,303 votes, while Flores-Cale has garnered 1,746 votes. Other candidates included Donny Wills with 907 votes and Andrea Villescaz at 493 votes. The stakes are high, as the outcome will significantly shape the city’s leadership.
In the City Council District 1 race, voters will also witness a showdown between Bear Heiser and Courtney Goza, who head to a runoff after Heiser received 2,061 votes compared to Goza’s 1,404 votes.
