UPDATE: Ruth E. Gerardi, a beloved community figure and centenarian, has passed away at the age of 100 on November 9, 2025. Known for her unwavering dedication to her church and local organizations, Ruth’s death leaves a profound impact on the Galway community.
Born on December 2, 1924, in Green Island, New York, Ruth dedicated her life to serving others. She worked for Trustco Bank in Schenectady for many years, but her true passion blossomed within the Galway United Methodist Church, where she became a charter member in 1948. Ruth’s contributions included serving as an officer, choir member, and organizer of numerous successful fundraisers.
Ruth was also a founding member of the Galway Lioness and played an active role in the Galway Women’s Club and the Galway Senior Citizens. Her commitment extended to the Saratoga County Aging Advisory Council, where she advocated for senior citizens’ rights and well-being.
Ruth’s family, including her daughter Sharyn Kalinkewicz and Goddaughter Pam Neahr, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, remember her as a loving matriarch who cherished knitting and traveling with family.
A public viewing will take place on Wednesday, November 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Galway United Methodist Church, followed by burial at the Galway Village Cemetery.
