Emceed by Veteran’s Agent Bruce Siegel, the event drew a large crowd. Select Board Chairman Phil Crawford delivered a heartfelt address, emphasizing the shared bond among all American veterans. “Whether they serve in a time of peace or of war, all American veterans share a common bond: their unwavering belief in the cause of freedom,” he stated.
Former Army Captain David Gallo, a Lynnfield native and guest of honor, captivated attendees with his powerful reflections on his experiences in Desert Storm. Gallo recounted how the stories of local veterans shaped his journey and inspired him throughout his military career.
“How we treat our veterans, how we honor them, determines whether future generations are willing to serve,” Gallo emphasized, highlighting the direct link between honoring veterans and national security.

Gallo credited Lengyel’s courage with helping him overcome his own fears in battle.
“I remember my own wife being much more nervous about me going off to war than I was,” Gallo noted, drawing attention to the sacrifices made by military families. “The families aren’t always so lucky.”
