Four Grand Forks Teens Arrested for Car Theft Spree

BREAKING: Four teenage boys have been arrested in Grand Forks for a string of car thefts and joyriding incidents, raising significant concerns among local residents. The arrests, which took place late Wednesday evening, are part of an ongoing investigation into a series of vehicle thefts that have shaken the community.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on November 12, 1958, two boys, both aged 13, voluntarily turned themselves in at the Grand Forks police station. They are linked to a case involving 13 teenagers who were implicated in multiple car thefts in the area last week.

The situation escalated when two additional boys, one 13 and the other 14, were apprehended following a car crash about 10 miles east of East Grand Forks. Reports indicate that they were seen fleeing the wreckage of a stolen vehicle, which overturned after leaving the road.

According to juvenile officer Duane Johnson, the boys confessed to stealing four vehicles since Monday night. They typically targeted cars with the keys left inside, drove them for around 15 minutes, and then abandoned them. “This behavior is alarming and requires immediate action to prevent further incidents,” Johnson stated during a press briefing.

One victim, local resident Jack St. Lawrence, reported his 1956 model car stolen from a location near the Jerome Dunlevy Ready-Mix Plant shortly before the arrests. The rapid response by police and community members, including farmers, helped track down the fleeing boys after the crash incident.

These developments underscore the urgent need for community vigilance and youth engagement in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. Officials are now focusing on how to address these troubling behaviors and prevent future incidents.

As the investigation continues, local authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activity and remain alert. The boys have been released into the custody of their parents, awaiting further proceedings in Juvenile Court.
