FSU Instructor Craig Sheil Honored at MassCUE Conference 2025

BREAKING: Craig Sheil, an adjunct instructor at Fitchburg State University, has just been awarded the prestigious MassCUE Pathfinder Award at the 2025 MassCUE Conference held at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. This recognition highlights his significant contributions to enhancing educational technology in Massachusetts.

In an emotional statement, Sheil expressed, “It is such an honor to be recognized for this award. I am certainly proud of the work that I have done along my educational journey.” The MassCUE Pathfinder Award celebrates educators who have gone “above and beyond” in leadership and inspiration, and Sheil shares this honor with Dr. Rayna Freedman, a fifth-grade teacher at Jordan Jackson School in Mansfield.

With over 23 years in public education, Sheil began his career as a high school mathematics teacher before transitioning to a digital learning specialist role at Bedford High School in Bedford, N.H.. He actively supports staff in utilizing technology effectively, stating, “It certainly is not a dull moment as we continue to navigate this world of AI and what that might look like in the educational setting.”

Sheil, who earned his master’s degree from Fitchburg State University in 2012, emphasizes the reciprocal benefits of his dual roles. “I love that I am able to take learnings from this role and apply it to the classes that I co-teach or teach at Fitchburg State University and vice versa,” he added.

The Massachusetts Computer Using Educators (MassCUE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing digital teaching and learning. Their Pathfinder Award serves to recognize those educators who significantly impact the educational landscape through innovative practices.

As Sheil continues to inspire future educators, his achievement resonates within the educational community, highlighting the importance of embracing technology in learning environments. Stay tuned for further updates on educational advancements and recognition in Massachusetts.
