URGENT UPDATE: The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a dense fog advisory for much of Oklahoma, warning residents to exercise caution during their morning commute. Visibility is expected to drop to a dangerous quarter mile or less in many areas, particularly affecting central, east central, northern, northwest, southeast, and southern regions.
Drivers are strongly urged to stay alert, as the low visibility is likely to create hazardous conditions on the road. The advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. today, and officials caution, “If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.”
After the fog lifts, expect a shift to mostly sunny skies with a high near 63 degrees Fahrenheit. However, later this evening, the region will face potential showers before 9 p.m., transitioning into possible thunderstorms until midnight. The chance of precipitation stands at a striking 80%, with rainfall amounts projected between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, and possibly more during thunderstorms.
Looking ahead, tomorrow brings a 40% chance of showers before noon. Yet, the afternoon should clear up, allowing for a mostly sunny day with a high close to 65 degrees. The rest of the week is expected to follow suit with clear skies, with nighttime temperatures dipping to the high 30s and daytime highs in the low 60s, culminating in a sunny Thanksgiving Day with highs around 57 degrees.
Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve. The NWS emphasizes the importance of heeding this advisory to ensure the safety of all Oklahomans during these challenging weather conditions.
