In a dramatic fourth quarter, San Pedro outscored Palos Verdes 20-10, pushing the game into overtime after a fierce battle. San Pedro’s Ricky Alonso, who emerged as a key player, noted, “We had to come together offensively, knowing our strengths and we played harder on defense.” His incredible performance included 21 points, with 15 points coming during the crucial fourth quarter and overtime.
As the overtime period began, Palos Verdes took a narrow lead at 58-57 thanks to Luke Dalis’ free throws. However, the Pirates quickly responded with a decisive 6-0 run, reclaiming the lead at 63-58. Despite a late three-pointer from Palos Verdes’ Max Cui, who led his team with 28 points, Alonso sealed the victory by sinking six consecutive free throws, including two awarded after an intentional foul.
