Northern Colorado’s men’s basketball guard Quinn Denker has earned the title of Big Sky Conference Men’s Player of the Week following his impressive performance during the invitational tournament held from November 21 to 23, 2023, at the University of Portland. Denker’s contributions were vital as he averaged 21 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds over three games, showcasing his scoring ability and playmaking skills.
The Bears concluded the tournament with a record of two wins and one loss. Their only setback came in a tightly contested match against St. Thomas, where they fell short with a score of 73-72. Denker scored 21 points and added six assists in that game. The following day, he turned in his best performance of the tournament, scoring 29 points and dishing out seven assists against the host Pilots. Denker also demonstrated exceptional accuracy at the free-throw line, going a perfect 10-for-10 in that game.
In addition to his individual accolades, Denker’s overall performance earned him a spot on the all-tournament team, where he totaled 63 points across the three games. This recognition marks his first Big Sky Player of the Week award, highlighting his significant impact on the team’s success.
As the season progresses, Northern Colorado holds a solid record of 5-1 and is poised for a nonconference road game against the Air Force Academy on November 29, 2023. Denker played more than 35 minutes per game during the tournament, reflecting his importance to the Bears’ lineup this season.
Denker is in his second year with Northern Colorado, having transferred from Idaho prior to the 2024-25 season. His development as a player continues to be a focal point for the Bears as they aim to build on their early success and make a strong push in the conference.
