UPDATE: Upper Darby firefighters have just delivered over 40 Thanksgiving food boxes to families in need, showcasing a powerful community spirit. On Saturday, members of the Upper Darby Fire Department gathered at the Cardington fire station to make this generous act possible.
The initiative, organized by retired Chief Ed Cubler, has been a staple in the community for decades, as he continues to collect and distribute Thanksgiving meals to those who require assistance. This year, firefighters from IAFF Local 2493 teamed up with their families to assemble full meals and additional items to ensure families enjoy a true holiday feast.
New Fire Chief Nick Martin actively participated, demonstrating leadership and commitment to community welfare. Josh Laubach, Shop Steward for the fire department, expressed pride in the collective effort, stating, “It’s a privilege to give back to our community, especially during the holidays.”
The food boxes included everything necessary for a complete Thanksgiving meal, with extras to enhance the holiday experience. This timely act of generosity is a testament to the firefighters’ dedication to help those who might otherwise go without during this festive season.
This event not only addresses immediate needs but also strengthens community bonds, reminding everyone of the importance of giving back. As the holiday season approaches, initiatives like this serve as a beacon of hope and compassion.
