Thanksgiving celebrations in the region brought warmth and togetherness as local cafes and organizations served meals to community members. On November 28, 2025, the Stone Soup Cafe in Greenfield hosted a festive Thanksgiving meal, welcoming individuals from all walks of life to enjoy a hearty feast.
At the Stone Soup Cafe, guests picked up plates filled with turkey, stuffing, and an array of desserts, creating a lively atmosphere of sharing and gratitude. The cafe is known for its commitment to providing nourishing meals to those in need, and this Thanksgiving was no exception.
In a show of community spirit, members of the Montague Elks Lodge in Turners Falls prepared and distributed approximately 200 meals on the same day. Volunteers, including Kim Bergeron, Rod Demers, and Justin Demers, worked tirelessly to plate and carve the turkey, ensuring that each meal was served with care.
Among those enjoying the festivities, Jac Essing from New Haven, Connecticut, was visiting her friend Matt Ashby in Greenfield. The two friends savored their Thanksgiving dinner at the Stone Soup Cafe, contributing to the sense of community that the holiday embodies.
In addition to serving meals on-site, the Montague Elks Lodge also facilitated outreach efforts. Terry Eaklor from Millers Falls picked up eight turkey dinners to deliver to homebound friends, showcasing the spirit of generosity that characterizes the holiday.
The Montague Elks Lodge was abuzz as members like Justin Simpson and John Grace served mashed potatoes alongside the turkey, creating a festive environment for all attendees. Local residents, such as Dan Parker, joined in the fun, donning a homemade turkey hat while picking up his meal, adding a touch of humor to the occasion.
