Chinese robotics manufacturer Siasun Robot & Automation has introduced a new high-altitude exterior wall cleaning robot aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in skyscraper maintenance. The innovative system is designed to mitigate the hazards associated with traditional manual cleaning methods, where workers operate at dangerous heights. In a statement published on their website, Siasun emphasized the need for this advancement, noting the risks workers face, including falls, adverse weather conditions, and long-term health issues.
The cleaning robot allows operators to remain safely on the ground while controlling the device using an industrial wireless controller. This setup enables the operator to raise and lower the robot effortlessly while initiating cleaning programs with a single click on a tablet. According to Siasun, this innovative approach represents a “ground-to-surface collaboration” model, which fundamentally changes the conventional methods that rely on manual rope-based cleaning.
Key Features of the High-Altitude Cleaning Robot
Siasun highlights five significant features of their robot. Firstly, the machine operates in both manual and automatic remote control modes, boasting a control range of 150 metres. This capability allows it to clean skyscrapers up to 120 meters high, greatly expanding its operational reach.

The third key aspect is the vacuum-based adhesion mechanism that secures the robot to the building facade. This system, which combines a push rod and suction cup, generates a strong suction force, ensuring the robot remains firmly attached to vertical surfaces during operation.
Additionally, the cleaning tool utilizes high-temperature steam delivered through specialized nozzles. This design allows the system to soften dirt quickly, effectively combining rinsing and scraping in a single pass. Siasun claims that the robot achieves a cleaning rate of approximately 1.5 square meters per minute while using only 8 liters of water per hour.
Finally, safety remains a primary benefit of the robot. By eliminating the need for workers to operate at heights, the robot significantly reduces the risk of workplace accidents, such as falls.
