During the filming of his latest action thriller, The Running Man, Glen Powell faced an unexpected wardrobe malfunction that he described as embarrassing. In a recent round-table discussion with fellow actors Josh Brolin and Lee Pace, Powell recounted the incident, which involved an unintentional exposure while performing a stunt.
Powell, known for his roles in films like Top Gun: Maverick, shared the details of his mishap during an interview on Entertainment Tonight’s segment, Spilling the E-Tea. The scene in question required him to rappel down a building while wearing minimal clothing beneath a towel. “I’m wearing a pouch under, and then I’m wearing a towel around it,” he explained. As he descended, he realized that crew members inside a nearby window were watching, leading to an awkward moment of exposure.
Brolin, who co-stars with Powell in The Running Man, humorously commented that the crew would have had a clear view of Powell’s predicament as he came down the building. He even mimicked Powell’s posture, eliciting laughter from the audience and his co-stars.
In a subsequent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Powell reflected on the circumstances surrounding the towel scene. He expressed regret about agreeing to film it, particularly due to the chilly conditions in which it was shot. “I agreed to that scene in the summertime, and we shot that scene in February in Bulgaria on a rooftop,” he stated. Being in a towel in front of a crew was one thing, but enduring the frigid temperatures in Bulgaria made the experience even more challenging.
The film, directed by Edgar Wright, is set to premiere in US theaters on November 14, 2025. As Powell navigates the complexities of filming intense action scenes, his candid revelations about this wardrobe malfunction provide a lighthearted glimpse into the unpredictable nature of movie making.
