Gwen Stefani has shared her transformative journey into Christianity, revealing that her experience of becoming pregnant at the age of 43 played a pivotal role in this spiritual awakening. The singer, now 56, discussed her personal revelations during an interview on the Hallow: Prayers and Meditation YouTube channel.
Reflecting on her desire to have another child, Stefani recounted, “I really wanted to have another baby. I really did. I couldn’t and I was old and started talking about all these things…it was waking me up.” This journey was not only about her own aspirations but also influenced by her oldest son, Kingston Rossdale, who expressed a heartfelt wish for her to have another baby. Stefani recalled, “He was like, ‘Please God, let my mommy have a baby.’ I just remember thinking, look at my little boy. He’s praying for me!”
Despite her initial doubts about her ability to conceive, Stefani found herself pregnant with her son Apollo Bowie Flynn Rossdale shortly after Kingston’s prayers. “I think it was four weeks later and I was pregnant with Apollo, who I had at 44 years old, naturally, totally a full-on gift. That was the first miracle,” she noted.
Finding Faith Through Fear
As Stefani navigated her pregnancy, she also confronted her feelings about Christianity. She explained that the more she learned, the more pressure she felt to align with her newfound faith. “It’s almost scary because the more you know, the more fear you get. You realize, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m running out of time and I need to get this together. I’ve got to be a real Christian! I’m not gonna make it,’” she expressed.
The singer credits Pastor Mike Schmitz and his sermons with helping her find clarity and understanding in her faith. His teachings resonated with her, providing guidance during a time of personal transformation. Furthermore, Stefani has partnered with the Catholic prayer app, Hallow, which aims to help individuals grow in their spirituality.
Despite her positive experiences, Hallow has faced its share of controversies, an issue highlighted by reality television star Chrishell Stause, who previously called out Stefani regarding the app.
Stefani’s journey into Christianity illustrates the profound impact of motherhood on her spiritual life, showcasing how personal experiences can lead to broader explorations of faith. Her story resonates with many, emphasizing the importance of connection and belief in times of uncertainty.
