Jessica Lacy, a prominent figure in indie film sales and packaging, is expected to leave her position at Range Media Partners next year, according to several industry sources. Lacy has played a crucial role at the company since joining in 2022 as a partner to lead the specialty division, Range Select. Insiders suggest that the decision to part ways was mutual, allowing Lacy to bring her existing team through the upcoming 2026 Sundance Film Festival market while exploring new opportunities.
Range Media Partners has not issued any official comments regarding Lacy’s departure. As of now, it remains uncertain when the company will begin the search for her successor. Lacy’s anticipated exit marks a significant shift for both her and the management firm, which was founded in 2020 by a group of high-profile agents pivoting from traditional agency roles to management following changes in TV packaging fees mandated by the WGA.
Before her tenure at Range Media Partners, Lacy spent over two decades at ICM Partners, where she developed strong relationships with top filmmakers. Her career includes notable deals such as the record-breaking $25 million sale of “CODA”, which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2022. Other significant projects she was involved with include Cooper Raiff’s “Cha Cha Real Smooth,” Regina King’s “One Night in Miami,” and the 9/11 drama “Worth,” featuring Michael Keaton. Lacy also played a key role in the success of Karyn Kusama’s acclaimed films “Destroyer” and “The Invitation.”
Future Projects at Range Media Partners
Range Media Partners is currently developing a diverse slate of films. Among these is a biopic focusing on legendary musician and Velvet Underground co-founder Lou Reed, inspired by the 2023 biography “Lou Reed: The King of New York” by Will Hermes. The company is also working on a cinematic exploration of the iconic screen partnership between Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, as well as “Soul Train,” a film adaptation based on the forthcoming stage musical about the legendary producer Don Cornelius.
As Range Media Partners moves forward, Lacy’s departure may usher in new leadership and potentially alter the trajectory of its film division. With her extensive experience and connections in the industry, her next move will likely be closely watched by peers and industry insiders alike.
