Kelsey Grammer has announced the arrival of his eighth child, a baby boy named Christopher, born earlier this month. The 70-year-old actor and his wife, Kayte Walsh, 46, are already parents to three children: 12-year-old Faith, 10-year-old Gabriel, and eight-year-old James. This marks their fourth child together, expanding their family further.
Grammer shared the news during an episode of the *Pod Meets World* podcast on October 27. While discussing his memoir, *Karen: A Brother Remembers*, he casually revealed, “We just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids.” He mentioned that the new addition joined the family just a few days before the podcast recording, highlighting a joyous moment in their lives.
The actor’s family tree is extensive. In addition to Christopher, Kelsey has a 41-year-old daughter, Spencer, from his first marriage to Doreen Alderman. He also shares a 33-year-old daughter, Greer, with ex Barrie Buckner, and two children, 23-year-old Mason and 20-year-old Jude, with his ex-wife, Camille Grammer.
The announcement of their new child first surfaced in June when the couple was spotted in a London park, where Kayte’s baby bump was visible. Earlier this year, Grammer candidly expressed his feelings about balancing his role as a father to both his younger and older children. He remarked, “I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two. I’m trying to make up for a little of it now.”
In an interview with *People*, he elaborated on his parenting approach, stating, “I’m a little more specific with them about doing their studies and being prepared.” He emphasized the importance of understanding their responsibilities, saying, “What’s your job in life? Showing up.”
Grammer’s memoir, which honors his late sister, Karen, revisits a tragic chapter of his life. Karen was just 18 when she was brutally murdered in Colorado. Kelsey recounted the devastating moment he learned of her death, noting that she had been savagely attacked by a man on a killing spree. This painful experience has informed much of his personal and professional narrative.
On July 8, 1975, Kelsey, then 20 years old, received the shocking news from detectives in Florida, who informed him about the discovery of a woman’s body believed to be his sister. Upon traveling to Colorado, he identified her remains and learned the details of her horrific end just weeks shy of her 19th birthday on July 1.
As Kelsey embraces fatherhood once more, he balances the joy of a new child with the weight of his family’s history. With eight children now in his life, he reflects on his journey as a father and how it has shaped his understanding of family and responsibility.
