Lionsgate has launched the teaser trailer for its upcoming film, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.” Set in the dystopian world of Panem, the film takes place 24 years prior to the original “The Hunger Games” and begins with the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
The story introduces a young Plutarch Heavensbee, portrayed by Jesse Plemons, in District 12. The narrative unfolds as he captures the reaping of the tributes, where he encounters a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada. Haymitch, a tribute from District 12, is set to compete in the 50th Hunger Games and will later mentor Katniss Everdeen in the 74th Hunger Games.
The cast features an impressive lineup, including Mckenna Grace as Maysilee Donner, Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Beetee Latier, Maya Hawke as Wiress, and Elle Fanning as Effie Trinket. Other notable cast members include Kieran Culkin as Caesar Flickerman, Lili Taylor as Mags Flanagan, and Ralph Fiennes as President Coriolanus Snow.

Francis Lawrence directs the film, with a screenplay written by Billy Ray, based on the novel by Suzanne Collins. Producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are also involved in bringing this new chapter of the Hunger Games saga to life.
