Steve Howey Takes on New Role as Police Captain in ‘High Potential’

Steve Howey is stepping into a new role as the police captain in the popular ABC series, “High Potential.” Known for his previous work on shows like “Reba” and “Shameless,” Howey portrays Nick Wagner, an unexpected choice for the position. He views this role as a significant challenge and a fantastic opportunity.
In his portrayal of Nick Wagner, Howey brings to life a character who hails from a prominent family, which he suggests may have influenced his ascent to the role of captain. “There’s probably some nepotism involved, maybe a lot of it,” Howey remarked with a light-hearted smile during a recent interview. He expressed optimism that his character will have the chance to redeem himself as the series progresses.
Howey’s Passion for Acting and Family
Howey’s enthusiasm for the show and his fellow cast members played a crucial role in his decision to accept the part. “To play a captain of the LAPD? I mean, are you kidding? What a great opportunity, right?” he exclaimed. His excitement is palpable, as he joked, “Captain? Do I get a badge? They give me a badge?”
Despite his character’s authority, Howey emphasizes that his most cherished role is that of a father. With three children, he shares, “They remind me every day how much I love to be alive, and they are the reason why I do what I do.” He finds that any challenges he faces in his personal life are made easier by the love he has for his family. “I’ve never loved anything more in life,” he added.
“High Potential,” which showcases Howey’s new role, airs on Tuesday nights on ABC. The series has garnered attention for its engaging storylines and character development. As Howey embarks on this new journey, fans can look forward to witnessing the evolution of Nick Wagner and the challenges he faces within the LAPD.
With a blend of humor and sincerity, Howey continues to capture the hearts of viewers, both on-screen and off. His dedication to his craft and family remains at the forefront of his career, making him a relatable figure in the entertainment industry.
