Washington Regional Medical Center Acquires and Rebrands Specialty Hospital
Washington Regional Medical Center has announced its acquisition of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with plans for a significant rebranding. The transition will take effect on December 1, 2023. As part of this change, the facility will be renamed Washington Regional Physicians’ Specialty Hospital.
Located at 3873 Parkview Drive, Physicians’ Specialty Hospital has been a component of the Northwest Health system since 2016. The facility is equipped with 20 beds and features five operating rooms, a procedure room, an imaging suite, a laboratory, and emergency care services. This acquisition aims to enhance healthcare delivery in the region.
Strategic Investment in Northwest Arkansas Healthcare
In a statement, Larry Shackelford, President and CEO of Washington Regional, emphasized the importance of this acquisition. He stated, “Assuming operations of Physicians’ Specialty Hospital represents a strategic investment in the future of health care in Northwest Arkansas by Washington Regional.” Shackelford added that the new management would foster closer collaboration with local surgeons, increasing the capacity for both same-day and overnight surgical services.
The rebranding and operational changes are expected to expand Washington Regional’s surgical capabilities, which will allow for a greater number of same-day surgical procedures as well as additional surgeries that necessitate overnight hospitalization. This move signifies Washington Regional’s commitment to improving healthcare access and quality in the community.
Fayetteville’s healthcare landscape is set to benefit from this change, as the integration of the hospital into Washington Regional’s operations is aimed at enhancing service efficiency and patient care. The acquisition is seen as a proactive step toward addressing the growing healthcare needs of the region.
As Washington Regional Medical Center continues to expand its reach and services, the community can anticipate improved healthcare options and enhanced surgical care as a result of this strategic acquisition.
