A significant moment in her life came when her sister, Mary, introduced her to Roger Connolly, a classmate who would later become her husband. The couple married in 1959 and enjoyed a remarkable 66 years of marriage.

Barbara and Roger established their family home on Walnut Street in South Portland in 1962, where they raised their two children, Michael and Maureen. Barbara dedicated many hours to the local education system, particularly at Frank I. Brown School, where she made notable improvements to both the school and community libraries. Her leadership as President of the Parent-Teacher Association highlighted her commitment to the education and well-being of local children.

As a congregant of Holy Cross Church, Barbara actively participated in various parish activities, showcasing her strong sense of community. Her professional journey included eight years at New England Tel and Tel, followed by roles at local daycares as her children grew. Ultimately, Barbara found her passion in libraries, working at both the Warren Library and the South Portland Public Library. There, her love for books and connection with people flourished, aided by a supportive team of colleagues.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Roger, and her children, Michael Connolly of Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Maureen Connolly, along with her son-in-law John Cunningham, who reside in Pineville, North Carolina.
