Central Valley Community Foundation Celebrates 60 Years of Impact

The Central Valley Community Foundation is marking its 60th anniversary by launching a storytelling initiative that highlights the unique narratives of the Central Valley. The formal celebration kicked off with the introduction of the “Stories That Shaped Us” series, which aims to share 60 impactful stories reflecting the region’s history and community spirit.

Serving the counties of Fresno, Madera, Tulare, Kings, Merced, and Mariposa, the foundation has played a crucial role in fostering local investments, supporting nonprofits, and encouraging charitable giving since its inception in 1963. The anniversary event aims to inspire greater community involvement, encouraging individuals to contribute through financial donations or volunteer efforts.

Highlighting Community Contributions

In celebration of its milestone, the foundation has launched a docuseries that will release one video each month throughout the year. This initiative aims to spotlight the leadership, dedication, and altruism demonstrated by community members, nonprofit leaders, and donors. According to Ashley Swearengin, CEO of the foundation, the series serves not only as a reflection of the past but also as a call to action.

“It’s just a call to action to pay attention to where you live,” Swearengin stated. “We are stewards of this place, and we can all get involved and make a difference, and make sure that what we leave behind for our kids and grandkids is actually a place that is inviting, thriving and sees opportunity for the people that live here.”

The stories featured in the series will cover a diverse range of experiences and contributions, showcasing the people and organizations that have made a significant impact on the Central Valley over the years. By sharing these narratives, the foundation hopes to foster a sense of community pride and encourage residents to actively participate in local initiatives.

Encouraging Future Generations

The foundation’s efforts extend beyond storytelling. It aims to create a lasting legacy that will resonate with future generations. Through increased awareness and engagement, the initiative seeks to ensure that the Central Valley continues to thrive as an inclusive and prosperous community.

As the anniversary celebrations unfold, the Central Valley Community Foundation invites residents to reflect on their own connections to the area and consider how they can contribute to its ongoing growth and vitality. With a robust program of activities planned throughout the year, the foundation is poised to strengthen its ties with the community and inspire a new wave of local involvement.
