Demi Moore Embraces Long Hair as She Promotes New Brand Partnership

Demi Moore, the acclaimed actress known for her iconic roles, has no intention of cutting her long, waist-length hair. At 63, Moore has maintained her signature look since the early 2000s, despite having previously explored various hairstyles, including her bold buzzcut in “G.I. Jane.” Recently, she shared her thoughts on hair care and style choices during her announcement as the new global ambassador for Kérastase, a brand she has long utilized.

In an interview with People Magazine, Moore stated, “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more thoughtful about how I care for [my hair].” This partnership aligns with her approach to hair maintenance, emphasizing the importance of care that fosters longevity. Moore’s commitment to preserving her hair’s length is evident; she insists on leaving the salon with the same length she arrived with, requesting “just a dusting” during her visits. “I’m protective of the length, so it’s about health over inches,” she explained.

Moore expressed her deep connection to her hair, saying, “It feels most like me… at the end of the day I love taking it down seeing my hair fall past my waist. It’s like coming home.” Reflecting on her past experiences, she described her decision to shave her head for “G.I. Jane” as “probably the most illuminating experience” that enhanced her appreciation for her hair.

In 2022, Moore indicated that she would be “hard-pressed” to cut her hair short again, even for a film role. “I think now that I’m older… I don’t have anything to prove,” she remarked. Her history includes a variety of styles, from shaving and dyeing to sporting a bob. “When I’m not working, I try to do as little to it as possible. It’s stressful even having someone touch it,” she added.

While her commitment to length remains steadfast, Moore is open to changing her hair color in the future. Following the release of her film “The Substance” in 2024, which addresses themes of aging and beauty perceptions, she acknowledged that she could “100 percent” envision herself embracing gray hair. “I look at women who have that incredible gray, especially long, and I think it’s striking,” she noted.

Moore also challenged societal norms regarding hair length for older women. “I remember hearing, ‘Oh, you get to a certain age, and it’s not appropriate to have long hair,’” she said. “It really should be more what feels comfortable on you.” She observed that many women her age are cutting their hair, which she believes often neutralizes their individuality.

Demi Moore’s advocacy for maintaining long hair at any age reflects a broader message about self-acceptance and personal expression. As she continues to navigate her career and personal style, her steadfast loyalty to her waist-length hair serves as an inspiring reminder that beauty comes in many forms.
